Staff profiles
JOE ABASS BANGURA
Joe joined the staff of A Call to Business Trading Ltd (Sierra Leone) in June 2009 as Managing Director of the company, bringing with him a rich background of business experience. A highly trained and experienced accountant, Joe had worked in senior roles for various high profile companies such as KPMG and NaCSA/PWC, before taking up the roles of Finance Director and later Regional Operations Director of Africell, a large mobile telecommunications company serving Sierra Leone, with other operations elsewhere in Africa.
This background has equipped Joe well for the challenging role of MD, with oversight of our fast growing team, facilitating all the business and philanthropic activities of A Call to Business Trading in Sierra Leone. This challenge was greatly increased when Joe was awarded a scholarship by the US State Department to participate in the Fulbright Scholarship programme (Hubert Humphrey Fellowship) at Syracuse University, New York where he has been combining his studies with remote oversight of the work in Sierra Leone. In July Joe will return full-time to Freetown.
Joe’s Christian faith is foundational in his life, and he is involved in both as a Pastoral Assistant in his own church, Winners Chapel International Freetown, and as a Board Member of a number of other Christian organizations, including World Vision Sierra Leone. He is passionate in his desire to see business people understand the call of God on their lives in business and looks forward greatly to expanding this part of the Call to Business message.
Joe has been happily married to Ellen for over 20 years, and they have two beautiful daughters, Josetta and Josephine.
